The importance of the topology of implant surfaces in terms of the healing process and sustainability is well known and documented by publications and medical studies. The processing step of the roughening of the surface structure requires a high process reliability, since abrasive particles are to be avoided as residues as far as possible. High-energy radiation is rather counterproductive, because the more energy is expended, the more particles remain in and on the material surface and the more intensive the post-cleaning must be operated.

In order to make the blasting process for processing medically relevant material surfaces simple, flexible and cost-effective, we have developed a patented process called SURFAST®.
The principle: With a low work rate, a direct acceleration of fluid-bound particles for structuring the material surface is achieved. As a result, depending on the application, high-quality blasting agents can be used and can be used in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner by means of a closed circuit. The machining parameters are easily adjustable and controllable.
